MEMBERSHIP
General:
- Membership in the caste is open to all free healers over the age of 16 [Character age, 18 mun age]
- Applicants, by the nature of Gor, are assumed to be born into the green caste. If they are wishing to change castes they should note this on their application
- Slaves owners may apply for slaves to be certified in healing arts by the RGCP, although they may not be registered with any caste and their certification will be tied to their current owner
- Acceptance for Membership will in no way be based upon the level of R/T medical experience.
- A freed slave, who was not in the RGCP prior to being collared, may not apply to the RGCP.
- An RGCP Physician who submits to a collar, loses all claim to caste status and rank. However, if later freed with legal manumission papers, they may reapply to the caste. No previous rank and status will be returned upon acceptance as the applicant will have to work his or her way back to any former positions/ranks held.
A change in Registration Policy will go into effect May 1st, 2005. There will no longer be dual caste registration permitted, by the RGCP. This pertains both to free healers who are registered in a different Caste, such as the Red... as well as free healers who have dual registration in different healing caste groups. This will not apply to slave healers, because as we all know, slaves do not have caste.
This policy has been deemed necessary by a majority of the chairs for several reasons.:
1) There is no other Caste organization which allows registration in two Caste groups, even though there are several Red and Black Caste groups.
2) Differing requirements for Registration in another Green Caste Group have already caused confusion and issues with conflict of interest for several Caste members/ Caste applicants.
Rule of Two Children:
Freewomen will not be restricted by the RGCP in their practice, but will follow the laws of their city as to whether or not they may engage their caste work fully before bearing two children.
They are expected to follow Gorean tradition as related in the books by John Norman and wear the two gold bands until giving birth to two children.
Procedure for Healer Registration in the Caste:
- An applicant will submit an application [Application]
- All applicants will serve a mentoring/probation period of four Gorean months [four mun weeks from date of application]
- During mentoring/probation period, the applicant's mentor will submit a minimum of one [1] healing log of the applicant. [This should be a major trauma, or show some surgical technique, or deal with reproduction/childbirth] The remainder of the training will consist of three selected essay questions. These questions are designed to show the applicant's knowledge, bedside manner and skill. They are not to be drawn out answers, but should show enough detail to support reasoning and believable play.
- The log and essay answers will be sent out to RGCP physicians [by the 3rd Chair] to review and approve or decline. The results will be sent back to the 3rd Chair who will forward copies to the applicant and their mentor for training purposes.
- All submitted logs and essay responses become property of the RGCP and may be used [with names removed] for training purposes.
- The 3rd Chair and/or High Council may determine that more logs are needed to be able to approve applicant. It is the responsbility of the applicant and mentor to send in these logs as requested.
- Any applicant who has not completed the mentoring process within three mun months will be dropped from the applicant process. If they wish to apply for Caste membership again they must begin the process again
- An applicant who has formerly been a RGCP healer but been dropped from the roster for inactivity must submit a letter to the high council for readmittance complete with registration number and proof of membership. If that information is no longer available then two letters of recommendation from others in the caste stating that they recall the service of the applicant need to be submitted. The council will determine if the application process must be completed.
- Once an applicant is approved and added to the RGCP roster they begin a three mun month probationary period in which they are not eligible to vote in Caste elections or voting issues. Once three mun months has passed, the healer is eligible to vote in all Caste elections and issues
- No applicant SN may be a restore/delete character. Any deleted SN will result in the character being listed as "inactive" on the RGCP roster with the date the incativity was discovered. If a SN must be deleted for any reason, then it is the player's responsibility to notify the scribe to return them to active status when they return. If a SN is not restored to active status in a six month period, it shall be removed from the roster. If they wish to return at a later date, the character will need to submit a letter to the High Council.
- All RGCP healers are required to have "RGCP" in their life scrolls as long as they are active on the RGCP rosters. No healer may have RGCP in their scrolls unless they are listed on the RGCP roster as active
Procedure for Slave Healer Registration in the Caste:
- Slaves are Non voting/non-caste members of the RGCP
- Slaves are allowed to practice only at the descretion of their owners
- Slaves wishing to register as a slave healer shall be registered by their owners only
- The slave's owner must complete and submit the application to the Slave Healer Co-ordinator
- The Owner must also include a signed and dated statement giving the slave his or her permission to train and to handle sharp instruments as well as an explanation of what limits of practice will be required for the slave, ie. permission to administer medication
- The Slave's Physician Trainer [who must be a registered RGCP of good standing] shall submit three logs demonstrating the slave's healing skills to the Slave Healer Co-ordinator Talamae Kuhlar
- Note: If An Owner has purchased a slave who is currently a registered RGCP slave healer, it is only necessary to produce the legal signed and dated Bill of Sale which has the slave's name and previous owner stated clearly, complete the above application and resubmit it within three months as a transfer of Ownership request. The slave will not be required to undergo training again, and his/her slave healer registration will be transfered to the new owner's name
Rules of Conduct:
(1) No flaming or mun bashing of fellow physicians allowed. That is petty and immature. Disputes should be settled in an adult manner between the parties, not involving the caste as a whole. The green caste is fourth of the High Castes of Gor. Show respect and honor in all things to your fellow caste members. Members found to be causing dissension and/or trouble making will be promptly removed from the caste. If the mun has more than one character in the RGCP, the severity of the infraction may result in the removal of all characters of that mun.
(2) There is no reason for the RGCP to involve anyone outside of the caste in caste business. Anyone found discussing matters of pertinence outside the RGCP will promptly be removed from the caste.
(3) We are trying to make sure that physicians are fairly represented in Gor. Please respond to mailings and be active in the caste. An active caste is a strong caste!
(4) When mail is sent by a chair, it should be read and responded to if appropriate. Deleting of caste mail is greatly frowned upon. It happens accidentally, but repeatedly deleting will result in removal from the mail string.
(5) Caste mail strings MAY NOT be used for personal use. Anyone doing so may be removed from the list of registered physicians, depending on the severity of the infraction.
